Stuy Heights Brownstone Triplex Condo Asks $1.579 Million

This attractive three-bedroom condo occupies three floors of a newly condo-ized Late Victorian brownstone, at 503 Halsey Street in Bed Stuy. It’s all newly renovated, with preserved original Neo-Grec details that include ornate mantels, mirrors, stained glass and plaster detailing.

There’s no floor plan, but from what we can glean from the photos, there appears to be a triple parlor on the top, with the kitchen in the middle parlor. The kitchen’s got an island with a quartz countertop and a built-in stove, and a wall of glass-fronted cabinets.

That leaves the garden level for the bedrooms, about which we can offer few details. Below that is a finished cellar, which could be a rec room or serve some other purpose.

There’s 2,247 square feet all told, according to the listing, from Citi Habitats broker Jason Warner. It’s not clear if that figure includes the cellar. (FWIW, the building is 17.5 feet wide by 40 feet long, according to PropertyShark — plus there is an extension on the garden floor.)

Outdoors there’s a rear deck off the parlor floor, and a newly fenced garden beneath. It looks to be fairly spartan, possibly paved, though it’s hard to say for certain.

The building sold in October for $975,000, before it was split into two condos.

Now this unit is asking $1.579 million. Monthly common charges are $293, taxes an additional $1,018. It seems a fairly steep figure for a section of a house rather than a whole one, but then again prices around here do continue to climb. What do you think?
