pollstation1.jpgSpeaking of politics…While New Yorkers won’t weigh in on the presidential race officially for about another month, we thought the occasion of today’s New Hampshire primary would be a good opportunity to see which way Brooklynites (or a certain blog-reading subsection, at least) were leaning. Please take the five-question Democratic Primary Poll on the link. The polls will close at 8 o’clock tonight and we’ll have the results for you in the morning. In the meantime, any predictions for how the real primary will go today?

  1. I don’t see how nobody ever buying anything anymore (due to 23% fairtax) is supposed to help the economy or create jobs. Or shoot, just KEEP the retail jobs if that were implemented.

Ron Paul on the issue of taxes is no different than any of the other Republican candidates who are ranting about immigration. They exploit issues they know push the voters’ buttons, without any specifics whatsoever about how their plan will actually work and truly impact the economy.

Please someone just finally put this question to Romney – tell us sir, in detail, how you propose to remove 12 million people from the U.S. and how will we pay for it? We’ll give you all the time you need to answer the question. Okay, go.

And to the person who said Hillary was “just the first lady” and doesn’t have the experience, try following politics over the long term over several years as a constant pursuit, not just what’s been happening over the last week or so. You clearly know nothing about Hillary Clinton. But of course that’s typical of American voters. They show up at the polls totally ignorant and vote for who they “like” emotionally. I like Obama, but still, what I said is a true picture of anti-intellectual America. It’s embarrassing.

  2. But this is CRAZY. Brownstoner – I CAN’T believe you didn’t even include republican candidates in your poll. HOW can you make that kind of assumption. It’s frankly really depressing that we live in such a ridiculously homogenous part of this country that only ONE person even commented on Brownstoner’s assumption that everyone is a democrat. No wonder people on this thread are saying such stupid things – they never meet anyone who challenges their opinions.

  3. I’m surprised no one has mentioned the “war on terrorism” and the war in Iraq.

The Shrub has not only erased the budget surplus so diligently pursued and achieved by Bill Clinton and the country, but has mired us in a war that will never end. He’s erased whatever support, good will and positive influence this country had, and whoever becomes president will spend every day they are in office trying to undo the damage, as best they can.

If only we could have impeached both him and Cheney.

  4. Whoever becomes the next president will need to brace themselves, especially if they are a woman or if they are quite young.
A couple of terrorist attacks on US soil will get people thinking that global warming is perhaps not the biggest threat we face.
What would Hillary do if the US is attacked again? What would Obama do? I hope they have a plan beause it’s going to happen.
In Hillary’s case, the cave-dwellers will want to test the boundaries cause these folks think women should be wrapped up in blankets and not seen much less heard. They will test her.
Will she be like Margaret Thacher or Neville Chamberlain?
