Another Bed Stuy house for sale that we spotted this weekend: This one’s at 86 Macon Street and looks to not be for the faint-of-heart! The for-sale sign suggests that HUD is somehow involved with the sale, so maybe there are some kind of attractive incentives to be had. To find out, it looks like the number to call is 866-HUD-HOUSE.

  1. i thought those x’s were just some kind of game the owner played, like it meant they had homing pigeons on the roof or something. that way the firemen knew to get to the roof first. or else it was some kind of symbol to tell Molder and Skully that the owner had some information. never in my wildest dreams did i think it indicated no floor!!!!!

  2. I liked in better when they used to paint curtains, flowerpots with daisies, maybe even a cat sunning itself, on the plywood boarding up the windows. It made me feel so much safer.

  3. No, no, no, no, NOOOOO!

The X inside a box means “amazing potential.” If I had the extra cash flow I’d buy this place, slap a coat of paint on it, and double my money in a week. Now stop sitting there – call your mortgage broker (or your parents) and get to work!

  4. I always thought the X meant it had been condemned. Which made it alarming, about a year ago, when that vacant on Myrtle and Adelphi, which had Xs all over it, was torn down only part way, and then built up from there. Man, despite the gleaming new look of it, I’d be wary about stepping in there.
