The Julius Liebman Mansion Sells

The Julius Liebman Mansion at 380 Clinton, which the LPC has referred to as “one of the most beautiful houses in Clinton Hill,” just sold for $3,800,000. It went on the market in 2009 for $5,500,000, and a year later the price was cut to $4,500,000. The final price is quite a nice deal for a 9,200-square-foot house on a 13,500-square-foot lot that also comes with a carriage house fronting Vanderbilt Avenue. The home previously belonged to a “faith-based residential program for men and women seeking help to overcome drug addiction,” according to Clinton Hill Blog; it’s unclear how it’ll be used now, but perhaps it will be an extremely spacious single-family? Here are some interior shots from when the home was on the market….swoon!

you know i like you minard, but seriously you are making my blood boil right now…

tho how much you wanna bet (and ill do it right now) that the second this rich family moves into this mansion, Teen Challenege, just down the block, will be scooted out of the neighborhood? it’s, for the most part, a given.

if you think this house is “too big” to be a single family home, you need to get out more. Specifically, you need to visit the United States and look at the kinds of mansions the rich are building all over the place. This is modest by comparison, it doesn’t even come with guest cottages.

And Rob, the organization, Teen Challenge, just relocated down the block: http://generationnextnyc.org/html/location.html
okay, that’s nice to know 🙂

why would this be turned into a school? are there not enough schools in this specific area? there are. oh you mean wouldnt it be great if this was turned into a rezoned rich kids public school… im sorry, but NO! looking at how people deal with schools in nyc, as an outsider with obviously not crotchfruits in the game, ive never in my life seen such blatant class and race warfare. and yeah i KNOW economics do play a role in the entire thing, but when you move buy a house in an economically depressed area and then opt to send your kids to a private school because the public schools are not up to snuff, you are passing on another very VERY coded message to the next generation. imagine being an intelligent (or even dumb one it doesnt matter) having to go to a local public school where all the rich people and upper middle class just REFUSE to send their kids because they would be around you. how the hell does THAT make a 1st grader or 7th grader or an 11th grader feel? inferior for no other reasons than just being alive, that’s what. as a childless semi-caucazoid im actually growing increasingly sick of this city and it’s classisism. i thought you all moved out of the suburbs to embrace diversity? oh that’s right, not really. as long as a food truck run by a moonface can serve you faux overpriced “ethnic” cuisine then you are embracing diversity. not!

Looked like a husband and wife bought the prop, so who know what will happen to it! And Rob, the organization, Teen Challenge, just relocated down the block: http://generationnextnyc.org/html/location.html
I would think it more likely that another sort of non-profit organization or school would have bought this than it will turn into a one family house. Its MASSIVE–hard to imagine anybody using it as a one family, and I don’t think it would condo-ize that easily. So, before you get all up in arms rob lets see what it actually turns into.
and if i ever won the megamillions, id buy this place, paint in neon pink and green, and turn it into a dog and cat and bunny orphanage just to spite the neighbors whose only real interest in their neighborhood is dollar $igns.
