246 Frost Street is a pretty cool rental in a 19th century converted firehouse in Williamsburg. You wouldn’t know you were living in a firehouse past the building’s exterior, but the gut renovation is nice indeed. It’s a three bedroom being marketed as a home/office/studio, and the property is zoned for commercial and residential use. You also get a private garage, a Jacuzzi on your rooftop terrace, and dark room thrown in to the mix. That’s in addition to 5,000 square feet of space over two floors! The monthly rent ain’t cheap though: $8,300. Who the heck can afford that and wants to live on Frost Street, that is the question.

  1. i thought people who live in the projects in hot hoods are generally happy about living there and dont normally cause trouble.. there are lots of projects in manhattan that are safer than 7th ave in park slope.

    *rob*

  2. r they literally across the street? yes, i know them. still.. i’d take it for live/work. there are friends of mine in that condo complex on withers and woodpoint who are happy there, but i wouldn’t buy across from the projects myself. rent this place – that’s ok.

  3. Floorplan is in the link. Click on the tab.

Yeah – it is a bachelor pad. Spectacular one. But I prefer my panty dropper/poom palace to be two bedroom with one bedroom dedicated to office/work. Rookies!

  4. i was thinking about this place – it would have to be like for an ad agency or web design firm or maybe music industry PR. there’s a tons of these types of biz’s in office and retail space already in WB. or, maybe a salon could go in. Graceland from Manhattan just opened up Lorimer between Meeker and the BQE, which makes this location look better! http://www.yelp.com/biz/graceland-brooklyn. The owner, Corvette, has a huge following. I only know this because a female co-worker told me she’s followed him there even tho she doesn’t live in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Kitchen is on the other side of Meeker from there which seems to be doing very well.

mentioning these biz’s, cause Frost is a mellow street way quieter and nicer than Meeker -it’s not bad at all – you’ve got the bars, restaurants and stores Graham and Metropolitan plus Il Pasatore on Bushwick just south of Metropolitan – which i like for dinner.

if you could have a small biz and live there, it’s very nice. i’ve been passively pricing out commercial real estate to move my biz to WB, and it’s not that cheap. cheaper than manhattan of course, but not free. $4-5K for a biz rent is not out of line if you’ve got a proper operation. our small office has a lease in a loft building in soho that’s, ahem, unfortunately way more.

of course, if you were to do this, then do offer less! i’m not making a case for this price point, but like the building and parking.
