We quite like this two-and-a-half bedroom rental at 428 3rd Street in Park Slope. The details and the layout are quite agreeable, and the kitchen looks pretty nice to us too (though Mr. B won’t like those new cabinets, we suspect). The price was reduced from $3,400 to $3,250 just a few days ago, a point that may not be too far off the mark.

I think NYC is special and deserves to be more pricey.

oh puh-LEASE new york city is NOT that special. get over yourselves. NYC has single handedly carried the entire KoolAid industry in the last 10 years. totally ridiculous.

    *rob*

  2. Fair enough, Ty.

And you make these comparisons a lot to “most places in the U.S.”

I guess if I may make a suggestion…seems to me you need to figure out if you consider NYC to be a superior place to live than “most places in the U.S.” If not, then you should question why you’re here.

Personally (and I’ve traveled extensively to “most places in the U.S.” I think NYC is special and deserves to be more pricey.

Don’t let it make you sad. You’d be surprised how many people would love to have a go at living in NYC. Even if it’s only a dream.

  3. Not making it seem like an “entry level apartment” — just a little sad that a $60,000 salary is barely enough to cover the rent and that $60,000 is basically considered “entry level” here where in most places in the U.S. it would be more than enough to pay for whole family’s expenses and mortgage/rent.

Like I said, just make me a little sad is all.

  4. Yep she would need a roommate Ty. But at 27, she also doesn’t really need a 2 bedroom with an office in Park Slope in one of the finest school districts in the city. Not yet, anyway.

This is a big girl apartment for people with big girl salaries. 🙂

Don’t make it seem like this is an entry level apartment or something. This is an apartment a professional couple (with or without child) could be very happy in for quite a while.

  5. Your friend still needs a roommate to live here. Funny that EIGHTYTHOUSANDDOLLARS isn’t a whole lot of money in this town. Makes me a little sad.

That Corcoran place is really pretty… Calgon take me away. I could almost murder someone for a roof deck like that. Luckily I have a couple friends with similar decks… no need for murder.
