This three-bedroom, one-bathroom offering at 129 Fort Greene Place is looking pretty good. In addition to its central location, it’s got a lot of space (1,500 square feet over two floors) and even some historic charm, which is hard to find in a rental. What about its asking price of $4,000 a month? We would have thought this would be closer to $3,500.

  1. They can’t be too bright, if they’re going to share 1 bathroom with 3 potential slobs. Let’s just hope their shifts at Hollister don’t all start at the same time.
And Rob, we all know you were raised by wolves, so don’t pretend the family cave had indoor plumbing.

  2. If it had outdoor space I’d see the 4K… still, maybe. Certainly the carrying costs on buying the same amount of space in a brownstone coop or condo would be (depressingly) higher, so… so maybe.

I could deal with the one bathroom personally, but a lot of people at this price point wouldn’t.

  3. The one bathroom thing is funny. Because there are a lot of 3 bedroom HOUSES that have one bathroom…so now you have an apartment in NYC that needs an extra bathroom! Why? That’s laughable. It’s the HGTV effect…someone on TV (or a neighbor) told you that you need more…so we need more!

  4. So are rents really negotiable these days? It seems like the market for places like this is tight enough that the landlord could stand firm. No outdoor space is a minus, but if these were two floor-through apts they’d be $2000 each, right? Arguably the best spot for transportation options in Brooklyn, if not all of New York City.

  5. HERE IS THE THING YOU MORONS DONT GET! THIS APARTMENT DOES NOT NEED ANOTHER DAMN BATHROOM JUST CUZ IT’S 4000 DOLLARS A MONTH. THE APARTMENT ISNT WORTH 4000 DOLLARS A MONTH TO BEGIN WITH! ONLY IDIOTS WOULD PAY THAT AMOUNT EVEN IF IT HAD 11 BATHROOMS. UGH. I HATE STUPID PEOPLE. TAX THEM!

Not the creative class, rob, but you know, the little people who have to drop their kids to school and have to show up at work on time, THOSE people probably have to get up and get ready at the same time. Sometimes, you really are a complete doofus, just as out-of-touch as an Upper East Side socialite.

no one i know growing up who had large familes had a problem getting to school and work on time everyday with one bathroom. youre just a lazy ass and so are your kids.

  7. I do think 4k is a lot – even if it is the cool area.
So close to the yards.. crime … blah blah …
and I doubt the 1,500 sq feet is all livable – am sure it includes stairs and hall.
