This two-bedroom rental at 148 Hancock Street in Bed Stuy has a nice prewar vibe and a decent amount of space; its proximity to the Nostrand A/C stop makes it easily accessible as well. On the negative side, it’s on the first floor and the monthly rent of $1,850 seems on the pricey side for 800 square feet in this part of town, especially if you’re also paying a broker’s fee. What do you think?

  1. Maly, Have you been in the nabe. I live on this block, so does Azim. Take a look at the website link I posted, then you can tell me if the neighborhood is grungy. The building on the top left hand corner of this page is on this block, so the the streetscapte three down,

  2. Amzi, a super-model could be grungy. All she has to do is stop bathing, brushing her teeth or her hair for a month; that’s kind of what happened to this could-be beauty, except it’s been 50 years.

  3. This building is called the Ardsley built in 1900. If the nabe is grungy the buildings around it are designed by Victorian starchitects Montrose Morris (whose building you can see in the window), J. Prauge, John Snook, Gilbert Schellenger, Parfitt Bros. So if buildings designed by those guys make a area grungy I am in love with grunge…
