Hello “usual suspects” and everyone else. Newbie here. Have been lurking for a while and decided to finally create an account.
You guys rock. You’re a big part of why this site is such a success. The Friday thing was ridiculous. I enjoy this site and definitely enjoy the OT when I have the time to read through all of it and it’s a good way to unwind.
Hoping to come and meet all of you at the next Brownstoner drunkfest.
cobblehiller, I wish I had that kind of time, but then I wouldn’t be able to post 100 times here today.
Other random thoughts:
– I’m against a limit on number of comments per day, for obvious reasons.
– I don’t think we need a moderator unless attacks get personal.
– I don’t have much time for lurkers who only spoke up in the commenting thread yet never post on topic in the other threads. If they are really worried about getting a beatdown or us hijacking the other threads, I just don’t see the former ever happening other than in rare/deserved cases and the latter has all but stopped with the OT.
– One login per IP address should be allowed (sorry to all the Misses out there).
– I prefer mandatory logins to guest posting.
– I was thrilled to see the What, DIBS, benson and THL all united on the same issue!
Hiya Biff you missed all the fun! I need a re-write on “Cobblehiller, thank you! I love humdingers.” We are PG now no Humdingers.
“There are assheads that read this site.
There are asshats that post on this site.”
“There are Assheads that post about Assheads”
I will tell you something all these whussies came from Brooklynian and other “suck ass” Blogs!!! I was very happy how some of you stood up for “The What”, kinda shocking!!
The What (I can say ***** and ******** and ********)
I like Nabe dishes (hot pot) like Shabu-Shabu (meat fondue)and Oden. Also the various noodle dishes soba, udon, ramen, somen. Or just the grilled meats Yakitori.

Sorry Dave, I misread your post and only gave you my cooked favorites.

Tako wasabi (octopus marinated in wasabi) – but has to be the raw baby octopus, not the old rubbery kind.
Natto? It’s like the bastard child of edamame and foot fungus. Next you’ll be telling us you like casu marzu.

OK…lets try to stay true to the OT.
I’m taking the Chinese bf out tonight for his birthday and I’m thinking sushi.
What’s your favorite sushi??? If you don’t eat raw fish then what’s your favorite cooked Japanese dish?
I can never decide but oftentimes a great piece of Hamachi is better than Maguro. But nothing beats Toro. Anyone like natto???
