I’ve had sushi once. Hated it. (surprised? no!) I did however have something at a sushi joint once called a “Japanese Bite Salad”. It was really good, but I can’t recall what was in it.

Best sushi anywhere near Brooklyn Heights is Iron Chef House on Clark. I prefer it to Tomoe, actually.
