advertising pays the bills so i dont really see any problem with it. as long as that half naked skank from the american apparel ads doesnt come back anymore shaking her pale toneless booty in my face then im okay.
“As this experince shows, if he goes that route, he’s going to end up deleting lots of posts to keep advertisers happy, but that will make the threads nonseniscal and blow a hole in the site’s credibility.”
slopefarm, I agree this can be an issue, but assume, as DIBS suggested, people will quickly grow tired of sponsor bashing. Or they should at least, as Mr. B suggested, know to take it here to the OT.
I have no problem whatsoever with Mr B getting sponsors to support this website, including in the manner he was doing it with the HOTD. Don’t we want him to make this a profitable venture for himself (and a source of information and amusement for ourselves) and continue with the blog? I don’t fully understand the problems with it. Maybe if the HOTD was brought to us by the listing agent it might smell a bit different to me.
slopefarm, we didn’t delete those comments “to keep advertisers happy.” the ad ran by mistake before it was ready, so we removed it, at which point the 5 or 6 comments that had already gone up made no contextual sense, so we removed them and invited anyone with feelings on the matter to discuss in the Open Thread.

11217 just quit Brownstoner in the COTD:
“This will be my final post on brownstoner.
Stevieb, Minard, the rest. Enjoy it.
I’m officially done.
And no, I won’t be back in 2 weeks, 2 months or ever, and Mr. B will no longer be receiving my tips which he uses regularly on this blog.
Find yourself a new Park Slope reporter.

Everyone will get tired of commenting about FD after the second day or so.
Many people here probably use it and I suspect like it. It’ll never generate the number of comments as the PS Food Coop though!!!!
And it could be a slippery slope, slopey (no pun intended). Then maybe we won’t be able to criticize the HOTD, COTD and new condo listings, lol!
Snappy loves Fresh Direct (& is often that way herself.) I’d think Biffers would be a devotee too.
