The 11th Street house looks great but it appears to have no back yard. It’s near the corner of 6th Avenue so that small decking part is basically the back yard.
Call me picky, but i’d rather have a little patch of greenery than a “yoga room”.
Whoops, I just realized I was looking at the wrong listing for Townsley and Gay in Park Slope! Just looked at the right one, and my basic comments still stand, not withstanding the specific ones for that other house. Still need bathroom pix. Other than that….
Whether the Park Slope house is worthy of its price or not, the website listing was the best I’ve seen in a while. Good, clear photographs with titles, and a good selection. Nit pick – no pix of bathroom(s), and didn’t need 3 shots of the front of the house, needed one of the back of the house, but other than that…. I was able to see enough so that if I was in the market for a house of that price, I would be giving the realtor a call, and would go to the open house.
Most people today pre-shop on the internet, I don’t understand why realtors, especially the biggies who can afford to do better, don’t post more pictures.
I cannot figure out why you didn’t select one of many Ditmas Park/Prospect Park South homes to feature

i think this goes to show why 121 St. James is not only overpriced but a headache waiting to happen. a tenant can stop the open house? what happens if that tenant doesn’t want to leave? what happens if that tenant files a suit against the owner? that house seems like a pain and who wants to deal with all of that. also, will the owner need to get a certificate of nonharrassment?
I wasn’t planning to go to the open house at St. James Street, but it pisses me off anyway that some tenant is making such a big inconvenience for the owner. The owner should enforce his rights and show the place anyways. I’m pretty sure most standard NYC leases give the landlord the right to show an apartment with 24 hours notice.
I look forward to the day when I don’t have to do building management myself anymore. It’s no fun at all.
Maybe the St. James Pl. open house was cancelled because the agent has another open house scheduled for the same time in Bay Ridge.
That block of Stuy by Putman has beautiful townhouses 4 story with bay windows on the East side of the Ave for 2 blocks. The house itself was on the house tour in 2004 and is a beauty, they did great work to renovate. The walk to the subway is about 10 minutes though and its close to the border of where the Stuy Heights brownstone stock starts to peter out.
HEY IF YOU GO TO THE PARK SLOPE OPEN HOUSE CHECK OUT THE DILAPIDATED ROW HOUSE A FEW DOORS UP THE BLOCK. I LIVED ON THAT BLOCK FOR 5 YEARS, DARES SOME CRAZY FOLK IN DA HOUSE. YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED THEM SHOPPING AT THE KEY FOOD. COME TO THINK OF IT, THEY SHOULD BE CHANGING INTO THEIR SUMMER ARTIC PARKAS PRETTY SOON. THE COPS WOULD COME BY AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. THE MRS. WOULD ATTACK PEOPLE WITH A WISK BROOM. THEY HAVE DOGS THAT BARK LIKE CRAZY BUT I NEVER DID SEE THEM OUTSIDE. HEY SCOUT, YOU ALL STAY AWAY FROM THAT HOUSE, NOW.
