Is the Bergen Street house an illegal two-family? Warren Lewis listing floor plan shows a third floor kitchen and describes the house as “currently used as a one family.”

Every once in a while Bstoner puts up an Open House Picks and someone complains, “What is this, Millionaires’ Row? Why can’t you find some houses under a million bucks?” So here you got ’em, and it turns out: “crap crap crap crap.”
That said, I hold Brownstoner entirely responsible for the fact that there are not four beautiful, attractively situated houses in the neighborhood of $500,000 to $1 million. Why must you charge us so much for houses, Brownstoner???
this is almost OPEN HOUSE PICKS–UNDER 1 MILLION edition. Given that the Bergen Street house will likely sell for under a million when all is said that’s a pretty accurate monicker. So go to town, folks who have been asking for more affordable options.
Re: Bainbridge House…and my nitpick.
It went through a complete renovation AND they put the electric panel smack in the middle of wall. A wall that looks like it would be used for a TV or a dresser or art work. For me that smells like a flipper and when I smell that I get turned off immediately.
pigeon- yes, Eastern Pwky divides it. And they actually are very different neighborhoods in reality. You have to come to this year’s House Tour.
bkhabitat…I think it’s probably a fair asking price. I think if anyone gets it for below $500k it’ll be a good price. Not a particularly pretty block given that long row of lifeless houses across the street with no trees in front. Not sure about any amenities over that way though.
DIBS, what’s your view on the Bainbridge house in terms of value?
Have to say out of all four, I don’t find the Crown Heights South house to be that blah, but I guess it’s all relative. This one is my favorite of the bunch, but agree it needs an application of the $200k chainsaw.
