171 was a House of the Day back in 2009 when the Brooklyn Heights brownstone was asking $2,850,000. At the time, we called the price reasonable but it was taken off the market after only two weeks so we never got to see if we were right. Now we’ll get a chance: The single-family pad has just come back on the market, this time asking $3,100,000. Given that the market’s stronger than it was two years ago and the compelling combination of location and old-school charm, we think this shouldn’t have any trouble clearing the $3 million mark.

dave and I are in agreement once again. A better staged photo would show the art books (of which I have many) nicely stacked, but in the background there would be bookshelves with regular books or a separate room, with bookshelves.
I like art on the walls, books stacked up on tables, and old Persian carpets, what can I say? I doubt very much Donald Trump would approve of these rooms unless they were dipped in 24K gold.
I will fess up and admit that what I wanted to hear from DS was that he felt the parlor looked like snooty people’s taste. In which case he would be absolutely right.

ds – it sounds like you had very thorough potty training.
I agree that taste is subjective.
To me, art, books, and favorite objects make a house more comfortable.
clutter? furniture and books are clutter?
Ditmas, tell me more about why you think the interiors are awful. Is it the books? The oriental carpet? The period furniture? What about these artfully staged rooms do you find aesthetically unsatisfactory? I’m genuinely curious.

Dave, I hope they get it.
I’m not saying that people in Brooklyn real estate sometimes stretch the truth -heaven forbid! – I’m just saying when the closing happens and is recorded, then I believe it.
