This circa-1900 standalone Victorian with a porch is similar to what you’d find in Ditmas but more affordable because it’s in East Flatbush. There are great original details, including mantels, built-ins, the stair, and wood work.

The floor plan is roomy and grand, with three parlors and big openings on the ground floor and five bedrooms upstairs. The kitchen appears to have been last updated in the 1970s, and there are no photos of the two bathrooms.

What do you think of it for $749,000? Click through for more photos and a floor plan.

  1. As I noted before, this area is the next gentrification frontier and the house is priced very well for a quick sale, plus, it’s in an amazing condition, close to the 2/5 lines, Brooklyn college which in itself is a huge cachet for families as they have tons of activities for kids such every Sunday there is a kids show at their performing arts center.

  2. This is a very interesting area. If I’m not mistaken this is Vanderveer Park, which is sort of like the Atlantis of the Flatbush micro-neighborhoods. Originally developed around the same time as Fiske Terrace, South Midwood, etc, but ended up on the “wrong” side of Flatbush. There are still some really huge, beautiful houses here, but of course, not necessarily in the type of condition that you see on the landmarked side. Also gems like the entire block of E25th between Clarendon and D, which looks like it was lifted straight out of Lefferts Manor intact.
But yeah, at this point it seems like a lot of bang for your buck if you are dead set on a living in a Victorian style house with a lot of bedrooms. However, if you can deal with a brick row house you can probably get a 2 family for this price or less, further north, closer to the park, near the Church ave 2/5.
