Other than its width, there’s really nothing to quibble with at this new listing at 62 Prospect Place in Park Slope. The four-story Queen Anne is gorgeous from both outside and in. In addition to all the old-school charm, there’s also an attractive modern kitchen on the ground floor that leads out into the simple but well-executed back yard. It’ll be interesting to see how the asking price of $2,150,000 flies. Might just work.

  1. Funny conversation vis a vis 19th century floorplans and 21st century living. I believe this house could in fact be a successful 21st century domicile while retaining 19th century charm but in my view it would be best achieved by moving kitchen and living/dining to the parlor and making the garden a rental.

  2. “The floor plan is not ridiculous if you take into consideration the year it was built”

True, but the floor plan is ridiculous if you take into consideration the year we are living in. If you want to live in a time capsule and pine for a butler and maid, this is for you.

  3. ACHL, I’m with you. I posted link to a nice example of a double-parlor on the parlor floor and a kitchen and dining area on the garden level. I think Mr. B may have been suspicious of the link or something, because my posting showed up late; however, all the no-kitchen-in-the-basement naysayers should check out my post above at 2:27 p.m.

  4. Stargazer…

You have to remember that this house wasn’t built in 2009. And this house like most brownstones has a cellar below the basement level, which houses the laundry room, boiler room etc.

If folks want a 2010 floor plan then this house, and those like it, are clearly not for you. The floor plan is not ridiculous if you take into consideration the year it was built.
