84 Joralemon Street has had a tough run. The single-family brick house hit the market (and was a House of the Day) in December 2008 when the asking price was $3,400,000. The price was reduced to $3,250,000 shortly thereafter and was taken off the market in February 2009. It reemerged with a new broker in September and just last week underwent another price cut to $2,975,000, a price that starts to look interesting for the Brooklyn Heights location.

  1. BoerumHill,

DIBS has enlightened me that, in NYC, the floor beneath the garden level is called the “cellar,” not the “basement.”

“Basement” is apparently synonymous with “garden level.”

Kinda confusing, as I always thought “basement” and “cellar” were synonymous, but I guess not.

  2. That’s correct, Pigeon – I have walked by this one many times on my way to the promenade (meandering path from my hood) since it was first listed.

So that is what I call a 3 story – three levels clearly above grade, plus the garden level (and presumably a basement).

Maybe I have been using the wrong terminology.

  3. ooooh, why isn’t there a floor plan?

    Love the built in boocases.
I too like red walls. My new favorite color for walls is a deep orange.

  4. Oh!
    Of course I’ve read B&B!
I have it right here at my desk at work in fact!
    No joke!
What do you want to know?
    I’ll look it up.

But those in the know call it BeeBee.
    😉

  5. BH, I believe the partially submerged basement is an English basement and counts as a floor. I certainly counted it as a fourth floor when I owned my house.

BTW, if we switch our impromptu from 4/1 to 3/31, does that still work for you??

  6. It looks lovely. I always wonder though with layouts like this how much you really use the parlor level. We’d always be on the kitche/dining/den level.
