We’re loving this new FSBO listing at 544 3rd Street in Park Slope. The one-family limestone is a gorgeous time capsule, complete with woodwork, wallpaper, stained glass and alcove sinks. Heaven! The asking price of $2,675,000 looks pretty reasonable in light of the recent sale of 607 2nd Street for $2,700,000. What do you think?

  1. love it and wouldn’t change a thing. Better yet if kitchens and baths are not some 1990’s or 2000’s modern renovation.
Looks like someone lives/lived there quite comfortably and with taste…so move on if not your speed.

  2. I wouldn’t go as far as to say I wouldn’t change anything in this house. I’d change plenty.
Wall paper would be the first thing to go!
Re-work the interior (bathrooms & closets) on upper two floors.
I come from the school ‘For this dough’, Adults with kids need a private bathroom off their bedroom.

  3. ET: Exactly right. *rob*, I don’t think you understand that a different kind of monied person elects to spend their millions on a Brooklyn townhouse. Not everyone with money believes in ostentation, or wants to live isolated from the likes of, well … *you*.

  4. Nice house with some great details. This is an Axel Hedman house, built in 1909.

Why buy a period house if you don’t like period detail? I know people are just talking, not buying, but……….

  5. Oh yeah looks great, for 2.5 million bucks you get a house that looks like some 95 year old grandma with a walker and depends. Brownstone living at its best!! What a joke, you really like this crap? Fussy fussy old lady style. Do you want a doily with your tea? BLah.

  6. definitely not a single person LOOKS like a millionaire. in fact most people in this neighborhood looks schlubby, worn-out, and bored.

worn out from working to save up the coin for $3MM house!!!

  7. Does Park Slope normally have this much turnover — by my count, there are at least two other houses for sale on this block: 524, 545 and maybe also 506 (did it ever go into contract?), plus 627 on the next block up toward the park. I think there were also one or two sales on this block or the next up last year.

Is this the Cheever Place of the slope, or is it just that the Slope is a much more active marketplace?
