It’s not huge, but this townhouse at 226 Wyckoff Street in Boerum Hill sure is charming. It’s got plenty of original details (which appear to be in good shape) in addition to a newly renovated kitchen. Although it’s a legal two-family, it’s currently configured as a one-family. Clearly the biggest hurdle this place is going to have is its proximity to public housing. If that weren’t a factor, the $1,395,000 asking price would seem positively cheap for Boerum Hill.

  1. Isn’t it interesting how million dollar homes can be so close to the projects? How is that possible?! Yet, it always gets folks stirred on this site. Jokes. I’m not even originally from New York and this always makes me laugh. It’s really dumb and shows how ignorant you are when you say it…and yes (!) it is a code for racism.

  2. 11217,

Your suggestion that people who don’t want to live near PJs are pussies is very funny. But you yourself live nowhere near PJs. If your home were sandwiched between PJs, you’d be singing a different tune.

But your humor is appreciated, nevertheless.

  3. I’ve lived in this area forover thirty years and I have always been sick of people talking negatively about the projects, that is code for racism.
This is Boerum Hill and not Gowanus. Maybe twenty years ago you would be made fun for giving South Brooklyn quaint names, but this is now. Gowanus now refers to the sketchy warehouses butting up to the canal.
This is also a very friendly and diverse block with all kinds of families.
There are not much available and this house is underpriced, we may see a bidding war like back in the days.

  4. I haven’t seen anything for sale. There was a revisited HOTD about a month ago, on Putnam or Hancock that looks nice. Everyone was complaining about the blue pain on the wainscoting.

I’ll see if i can find it
