What’s a beautiful house in Crown Heights North worth these days? We have no idea, but this listing at 1265 Dean Street should help provide a data point. The four-story Romanesque Revival house is dripping with original detail, including some serious wood paneling, and is located on “one of the loveliest blocks in all of Brooklyn,” according to the Landmarks Preservation Commission. The corner location means lots of light but, on the downside, it also means higher taxes. The asking price is $925,000. Any guesses?

“I was in Crown Height a couple of hours ago!”
Ohhhhhh…. that was what that smell was.
Montrose said it best, too.
Re: What = BHO
When I started posting on Brownstoner nearly two years ago, unregistered bloggers would write Nostalgic on Park Avenue = Montrose Morris.
Maybe we’re all the same person — with 700 different personalities.
It’s possible.
I am told that there is no kitchen, no roof on the garage and of course no back yard. One of the three baths is unrenovated.
Love this house.
Couple got part way through reno and stopped. Roof is second new roof as first didn’t work out well.
Institutional corner though, two churches and a senior citizen building. Buses….but parking!
“What, you and your sock puppet BHO are wrong.”
Tell me why Morris!
“My new defense of my neighborhood is this: if you want to believe the worst without checking it out yourself, fine.”
I was in Crown Height a couple of hours ago!
“Don’t buy in a neighborhood that will only rise in value over the long haul.”
What is the time horizon Morris, 50 years??????!!! By the time the next wave comes you will be in a Cremation Urn on someone’s mantle piece!
“Don’t move to a block chock full of some of the finest residential architecture in Brooklyn, easily comparable to the “name” streets of Park Slope.(same architects, in many cases)”
AGREED!!!! 100%!!!! Still “Hood”!
” Please forget even visiting an ethnically and economically diverse block with friendly neighbors, proximity to an excellent supermarket, banking and the subway.”
Please I hope to God the”diverse” part is West Indian because it’s not Asshat!
“And please, don’t move around the corner from me. You’ll be coming home safely at night, even across Atlantic Ave, which is no big deal unless you can’t tell red from green stop lights.”
ROTFLMMFAO Really??? New York Ave? Kingston?? Lincoln??? St. Johns??? OK put the crack pipe down!
“You’ll never get rid of us. You really don’t want that.”
Get rid of you??? Morris I’m going to stand down…
I wonder does a Brownstoner that has lost 50% of it’s “value” still looks great?
The What
Someday this war is gonna end…
Someday this war is gonna end…
Anyone else think the What and BHO are all someone else?
I remember when the What was really scary and wacked the Eff out – The What now seems totally tame and dare I say – coherent????
“And please, don’t move around the corner from me. You’ll be coming home safely at night, even across Atlantic Ave, which is no big deal unless you can’t tell red from green stop lights. ”
Ah- if only he were color-blind.
A little of the old revoise psychology from MM!!! Please don’t throw me in the briar patch!!! Oh no — beautiful architecture?? lush gardens? beautiful woodwork?? neighborhood associations??? AAAAHHHHHHHHGGGGG (runs screaming).
Montrose, you and your CHN pals are always welcome to stop by for a snack if you are in S. Slope. I’ve got the organic locavore tea sandwiches all ready for ya. Stay as long as you want.
