When we last looked at 53 South Elliott Place, the 3,600-square-foot one-family house in Fort Greene, Corcoran had the listing at $3,700,000. Apparently, the recently renovated house did not sell, since Douglas Elliman has had the listing since last August at an asking price of $3,495,000. There’s no doubt that it’s a gorgeous house, but it was expensive last year and still is expensive today.

  1. Wowzer…triple post.
    so sorry
    so sorry

Sorry, DIBS, disagree. Side by Side Double sinks are awful. I don’t want anyone standing next to me and listing to them brush and spit. With a bathroom that size, put the two sinks on opposite ends of the room, that I’ll agree to.

I did a townhouse gut renovation 2 years ago. Master Bedroom floor thru with His and Hers Bathrooms…that is luxury!!

  2. Big kitchens and big bathrooms sell. Get over it. you people have lived in Brooklyn brownstones with rooms too small all your lives. People want big kitchens and big bathrooms…none of these 5′ X 7′ loos

  3. The bathroom is intriguing. Does the owner hold court in the tub ala Gypsy Rose Lee, or Jean Harlow? Unless you are into tub parties, and hey, to each their own, such a large room for cleaning is a little “Last Days of Rome” like. Nonetheless, the house is fabulous. Not 3 million dollar fabulous but close.

  4. OK, BRG, whatever you say. I’m sure you know all.

I think bstoner should host The Great Brownstone Destruction Contest. See who can come up with the most creative ways to gut a brownstone. Maybe when this one doesn’t sell in a year the owners will let bstoner use it as a design showhouse.

Then I opened up the door
    and then

    was a party goin on?

There was a splishin and splashin
    realin with the feelin
    moving and a groovin
    rockin and a rollin

    Bing bang
    I saw the whole gang
Dancin on my livin room floor

Golly miss molly was even there too
    So Splish splash
    I forgot about the bath
I went and put my dancin shoes on
