When we last looked at 53 South Elliott Place, the 3,600-square-foot one-family house in Fort Greene, Corcoran had the listing at $3,700,000. Apparently, the recently renovated house did not sell, since Douglas Elliman has had the listing since last August at an asking price of $3,495,000. There’s no doubt that it’s a gorgeous house, but it was expensive last year and still is expensive today.

  1. “BRG – who the hell has that kind of money these days? And even if they did have it, wouldn’t they find better ways to spend?”

Oh, Miss Muffett. There are plenty of people with money, you like finer things and will gladly spend it on the renovation of their home.
Not everybody wants to live with machine made ceramic subway tiles.

  2. Actually, DIBS, I throw a great party (hence our desire for a bigger place where we can entertain). I’m actually all about big common public spaces, but for private areas (bedrooms and baths), seems kind of wasteful to eat up so much square footage.

  3. “I did a townhouse gut renovation 2 years ago. Master Bedroom floor thru with His and Hers Bathrooms…that is luxury!!”

The barbarians at the brownstone, the philistines on the stoop.

  4. is it me or can anyone else not find this listing on pshark? i think i remember this place being on the market about 6-7 years ago for under 1M but i might be mixing it up with a different # on SE. any suggestions?
