We’re in love with the bayfront brownstone at 448 6th Street that just hit the market. It feels historically authentic but not precious, and it’s a little different from your standard-issue brownstone. The asking price is $2,825,000. Given the current meltdown and the fact that the house is only 17 feet wide, that’s going to be tough, but, man, whoever ends up here is a lucky duck.

wow – that’s a really, really nice house.
No idea whether that is a good price or not but if you can afford that much in this environment then you really have no money worries whatsoever.
On the kitchen points – yes, it should have more than what is in the picture for the money but it’s also a nice open space ready to do what you want with it. I would prefer to take the “glass half full” view here.
This house looks really pretty, the facade is lovely and given the central staircase I don’t think the narrowness is such a big deal. Still, no photos of the bathrooms, no mention of mechanicals, no powder room in the parlor… I bet it needs more than cosmetic work. Even though the photos make the photos look lovely the cost is really way too high, but I am sure the owners know it. I wonder when it will see and how much it will go for.
sam, I’m sorry you won’t be able to attend. I can assure you I don’t wear a Flash Gordon outfit (or any other variation of a unitard). But your post was hilarious nonetheless.
THL, never fear (ok, now I’m talking like a superhero), you would have had a blast. I can assure you nobody is going to get too serious and, if they do, we’ll crack out the strawberries and whipped cream and strap them to the tickle chair. It would have been very nice to meet you, but we’ll just continue admiring you from afar on here.

I would also like to say, now that it’s being brought up that some people here (Biff) have asked if I am a poster formerly named “Jerri Blank.”
I am not, but I do know the person behind the name, as they are an acquaintance of mine. “Jerri” told me that Biff had created a mailufo account specifically for “Jerri,” they exchanged many many emails and “Jerri” became very uncomfortable with the emails he was receiving from “Biff.” He then noticed that the “mailufo” website no longer works, which led to even more skepticism.
I’m bringing this up because this is still the internet, and there are a lot of sick people in the world. I’m not making any judgments about anyone here and this could have been harmless fun (and “Jerri” took it the wrong way, perhaps…I don’t know…) but I personally think it’s better to be safe than sorry. I really don’t want people I don’t know to have too much information about me. I lead a professional life, have friends, date and would like to keep those things intact. I don’t want to get involved with people who might have ulterior motives.
I also simply don’t think this would be nearly as much fun once I met you all. We might as well just email each other after that, if we became friends.
Subsequently, “Jerri” got freaked out and no longer posts here. It’s a shame that people on here have felt the need to monopolize and bully others.
To be honest, I preferred it when everyone who wanted to be, was anonymous. But it’s not my blog, so I’ll either continue to play by the rules or gradually fade away.
Biff I cannot attend your end of the world party because on Thursday I will be at the ends of the earth (somewhere in the outback of Connecticut). Just as well because if I actually met you all, it may ruin it for me. I picture Biff in a kind of Flash Gordon outfit because I thought Biff Champion was Flash’s sidekick. Wasn’t he? bxgirl also has a bit of a superhero image with live bx cable wrapped around her shoulders like coiled snakes. You see? I can’t ruin my illusions.

I have no problem with either 11217 or Nokilissa but enough already with the crying. It is a blog after all and I think it’s a little ridiculous to get all worked up about people making snarky comments. Lord knows I’ve made a few in my time.
When the comments 11217 made got ignored by the general populous instead of defending herself Nokilissa feigned shock that no one jumped to her defense causing Biff to “Champion” her cause. What’s more Jr. HS than that?
I was looking forward to going on Thursday (had I been able to go) but if that meant that I would then have to become guarded about what I said lest people become offended because now we “know” each other then never mind.
