Today’s House of the Day at 820 Jefferson Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant has some incredible original woodwork in it but, at the end of the day, it’s hard to see how anyone will write a check for the asking price of $1,350,000. First of all, it’s only three stories; secondly, for that price in this area, you’d want the complete package and the kitchen and backyard leave a good deal to be desired. Still, we can’t stop staring at the photos of moldings, fireplaces and mirrors, so we guess it’s possible that someone will just fall in love and have to have it.

  1. Its great
but bed-stuy and “sub-prime” is tangled in a fight to the mat right now.

No matter how nice your house is, if the neighbors are starting to wilt and can’t maintain their houses let alone pay the mortgage when it resets, you just know this place is going to be available for less than $1m in 3 months time. and Yes, it can still be valued at 900k without the neighborhood becoming dilapidated or back to the 80s. 900k is a LOT OF MONEY.

  2. i don’t understand the “housing bubble” comment.

it’s a beautiful house although the layouts are not that ideal IMHO. i wouldn’t want a bedroom in btw the livingroom and diningroom and i think you can see in the photos how weird that looks.

  3. The house is nice. Not a bad asking price considering smaller condos are going for that price. At least you have a house.Who cares if you need to do a little reno in the kitchen. That can be done at a later time.If not it is in livable condition for now. The exterior is beautiful and so are the details both in and outside.
