This house at 394 Stuyvesant Avenue is a perfect example of why Stuyvesant Heights is known for having such incredible architecture. The three-family house has some serious woodwork–moldings, mantels, built-ins and parquet floors–and, according to the listing, a “huge arched basement that can be transformed into a wine cellar.” The asking price is $1,200,000, which isn’t low for the area but neither is it unprecedented by any means. Think they’ll get it?

  1. I haven’t heard anything about a Mexican place, but I did hear that a Spanish restaurant was opening in the old Creative Blossoms storefront (which is pretty small). They’ve been doing work in there, but it’s pretty slow. Anyone hear any updates on the new Peaches place? The bodega on Lewis and Halsey is going more upscale. They’ve even added a granite countertop at the cash register. They told me there were adding a whole outdoor fruit and vegetable section – they said it would be freshfruits and vegetables, not moldy old fruits and vegetables.

  2. In reality, that area nearer Clinton Hill is priced higher because it’s closer to Clinton Hill. As far as this particular house is concerned, if the appraiser could use those comps Amzi is talking about, then this house would appraise. And there’s really no reason not to — they’re both in Bed Stuy.
