Construction wrapped up at 571 Carroll this January and there has been radio silence ever since. Signage went up on the building but nothing’s up on StreetEasy. We called and found out that the developers are still waiting on “paperwork” and it could be another two months before the building launches. There will be 18 rental units in total, all one bedrooms. Prices will start at $1,800 a month but no word on how high they’ll go.

Why are these rentals and not condos/coops?
because there is a demand for rentals and not for more condos/coops.

A balcony overlooking a street with moderate pedestrian traffic is a wonderful thing.
Why are these rentals and not condos/coops? Shouldn’t they be building to sell? Building to rent seems asking for trouble.
I don’t think this building is horrible looking. It would look nice in most cities out west or maybe even in Long Island or NJ. I do think it’s a little out of place in this part of Park Slope.
Thank you, cmu. This building is an embarrassing travesty. This should be on the other side of 4th Ave. Gowanus aesthetic encroaching on PS again.
I think this is the most hideous of all the new buildings in the nabe. I am not anti-modern, in fact I prefer new buildings to look new instead of fake-old. This has ots of low quality overfussy little ‘detials’. Looks much worse in real life than in the photo, IMO.
Agree that this building is fugly. It looks like pretty much all new development in Houston — that’s not a compliment. “Decorative” balconies are an affront to humanity.
store a few bicycles, dead potted plants and those balconies will look just like every other bldg.
> You must be totally asthetically BLIND to like this monstrosity!!
Glad to hear I’m not the only one to think these look like crap on toast. Sure, there are uglier developments, no doubt, but let’s raise the bar just a smidgen higher.
wouldn’t be bad, but those balconies are gross.
