This new studio listing at 195 Garfield Place in Park Slope. While it is a studio and therefore lacks a separate bedroom, it does appear like the orientation of the kitchen (layout here) provides at least some division of space. The third-floor pad is in a prewar building (albeit a walk-up one) and has the kind of charm to it that you’d expect. What do you think of the $285,000 asking price?

Again…. saving $800 or $900 a month for 5 years. That would be a crazy, impossible hardship for almost everybody that has to pay rent in this town and has normal expenses (myself included).
right? jesus christ… i think that if you are currently renting in nyc, it’s impossible to ever get to becoming an owner of anything really. quite a clusterfuck when people who have put so much time into this city can’t compete at all with people from out of state and people with parental help. im seriously tempted to take a trip to some third world country and get a vagina, kidnap a few kids, and change my name to roberta, just so i can move into the projects!

And let me preempt… don’t respond with the usual, “If you can’t afford it, live in a cheaper neighborhood. This is prime Brooklyn.” or whatever the usual bullshit is.
That’s missing the point! No neighborhood should charge $300,000 for a little walk-in closet.
Again…. saving $800 or $900 a month for 5 years. That would be a crazy, impossible hardship for almost everybody that has to pay rent in this town and has normal expenses (myself included).
And, then, let’s say you pulled that off. The idea of tossing that at THIS place? A shoebox with a dishwasher?
Effing ridiculous. (And sad.)
