This second-floor co-op at 138 Remsen Street may have a slightly odd layout but it makes up for it with a great feel, including 14-foot ceilings and lots of original details. The FSBO listing clocks in at 1,000 square feet and comes with a reasonable monthly maintenance of $825. The asking price? $729,000. Sound about right?

  1. It actually is true Rob. But you like to be contrary and talk about things you don’t know.

    Here’s a huge 1200 sf 2 bed/2bath for 329K in Kensington:

    And here’s a 1400 sf 3 bedroom/2 bath in Ditmas Park for 489K.

You been to either of those neighborhoods, Rob? No, didn’t think so.

  2. How deep of a lot is this place on? There are two apartments per floor on all but basement floor. I see that it backs up onto Grace Court Alley and the listing says is has parking somewhere … maybe their rear yard is driveway-sized?

  3. There are plenty of nice affordable homes 15 minutes farther from here on the subway, and we shouldn’t be making comparisons about getting the best bang for your buck in a place like Brooklyn Heights.

Yes…12-15 minutes puts you at the Utica Ave stop on the A train…Stuyvesant heights, where you can get a whole beautiful 2,600-3,000 sq, ft. brownstone for this price.

  4. This shouldn’t get you so depressed, snowbunny. This is in Brooklyn Heights, the most expensive neighborhood in Brooklyn.

You can find something similar and cheaper than this in Manhattan, even.

  5. yes, this is extremelly bad layout. I need a window in the kitchen, not the closet.
….and insert laugh here, but the childs room, is like everyone else said, a closet.
and the sad thing is that some schmuck will buy this… LOL

  6. Not bad for an expecting family, but once the rug rat gets big fogetaboutit. WIC looks like generous space and overhead storage definitely makes life a little less cluttered, but kitchen is no larger than your run-of-the-mill Manhattan rental and the location is not ideal being close to the Downtown Brooklyn DMZ.
