Benson, thanks, that’s what I was thinking. That doesn’t both me at all. My current garden backs up to one of the pocket parks at LICH, and it’s packed with kids all the time.
Snarky, I think I will check it out. Any chance you’ll join us at Brooklyn Social tomorrow for etson’s bon voyage party? Benson, you coming?
As for the F, not the best, not the worst. I relied on the F for 10 years when I lived in Carroll Gardens, and it was generally fine. Except on weekends. But nothing seems to run on weekends due to neverending “track work”.
i like the ansonia enuf, but it is not perfect. and location trumps all. compare it to the dvper at vermeil and it reinforces the hypothesis that something/someone is upside down. in this location you can’t even make the (ridiculous) claim that the less prime location is equalized by the school.
trading concrete for grass in the courtyard would be a huge win. but you’d regret living on the f line unless you don’t mind walking to/from 4th (i’m sure it would feel like uphill both ways).
I hear you Pigeon, but there doesn’t seem to be a lot “italian” about this place outside of the broker babble.
Antidope;
Yes, price is a bit rich for South Slope, but clearly this is a quality apartment and complex. The common spaces are kept in immaculate condition, as one can see from the photos of the courtyard.
You know where I live and I’ll tell you: I would prefer to live in the Ansonia. In fact, I’ve used the Ansonia as an example when pestering my Board about improving our courtyard.
I looked at a 2 BR in this building in the mid-90’s (maybe ’94) and thought it was overpriced at $120,000. The neighborhood was borderline back then, but I sure wish I had had some foresight….
650-750psf to live in south slope. these are full prices still…
> If my memory serves me correctly, it was converted in the mid-80’s
That’s what I’ve heard on numerous occasions.
I’d love to be in this place. Great location if you don’t mind the F train. And one can always stroll down to 4th Ave/9th St to pick up the R.
CGar, you should check it out.
M4L;
As 11217 just stated, this was converted LONG before you mentioned. If my memory serves me correctly, it was converted in the mid-80’s, so it is well-established. At the time the Ansonia was converted, this was not a good area.
I love the courtyard in the Anonia. I wish my condo kept our courtyard as nicely.
CGAR: I think that a possible reason it is priced lower is that many people may NOT relish being at courtyard level. You have to deal with kids running around, parties, etc. At least that is the situation in my place.
11217, think aguayo & huebener were the listing agents then
