Here’s an interesting one. This three-bedroom condo in a Clinton Hill carriage house just hit the market and for $579,000 looks pretty darn interesting. Although we’ve only got one interior photo to go off, it also looks like the developer managed to do a decent job of doing a clean gut reno while respecting the building’s bones. The kicker for us is the large window size. Plus, each unit has its own storage and washer/dryer in the basement. We bet this will move quickly.

  1. I agree that this is a 2-bedroom and not a 3. That third bedroom took space from the living room which at 14 by 14 (196 sf) must serve as both the dining room and the living room. Still, for the money it looks like a pretty good place.

  2. It is wonderful to see what appears to be (from the photos) a decently built, family size apartment in an attractive building (what an incredible improvement over most new construction) for under 600K in a neighborhood I would be delighted to live in.

Too bad about the condos going up next door, though. And there’s also AY to ponder. What might the impacts be on this block? Game night parkers? Traffic jams?

  3. “I was hoping that one of the benefits of being in multi-cultural fort greene would be a true multi-ethnic school for my kid”

Simple explanation for this fact. Most of Fort Greene’s gentifiers do not send their kids to public school and I assume that it is due to the sentiments expressed by the poster. If everyone thinks and behaves in this manner the schools will never be “diverse”.

Also, there is a special place in hell for people who flout the rules in order to gain admission to PS 321 – the school is crowded enough as it is.

  4. To Anon@1:58. I rarely get into issues like this except that it has come up a few times now that I have school age children. A lot of people tend to forget that if one is moving into an area that is dominated by one group or the other and you (or your children) are not from that dominant group, then, guess what, you (your children) are the ones integrating the school. You (your children) become the “face of diversity” for that area. Because you (and your children) are not from the dominant group, by virtue of your presence, the area has become multicultural. Enjoy your status as a “minority” while it lasts. πŸ˜‰

  5. I love the 3-bedroom tag. Its two bedrooms, and they stupidly put up up a thin sheetrock wall in the living room to create the 3rd bedroom. I would rip that wall down and have a bigger living/dining area.

  6. Just back from the dentist…Wow! We were definitely fooled. This is a wonderful job of a new construction building that fits right into the historic district. The bricks even look old–wonder if they salvaged!
