This Classic Six has luxurious prewar features, a plethora of built-ins and an elegantly updated kitchen. It’s located on the fourth floor of one of Brooklyn’s most notable apartment buildings, known as the Flatiron of Brooklyn and designed by celebrated architect Rosario Candela.

The 16-story, 43-unit building at 47 Plaza Street West has a triangular prow that points to Prospect Park across the street. Its curving side overlooking Grand Army Plaza is an homage to the great Circus of Bath in England, with its curving townhouse facades, according to the AIA Guide. It was built of brick with terra-cotta trim in 1928 in a style that melds the Italian Renaissance and Art Deco.

The three-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom unit shares a landing with only one other apartment and has a flexible layout that includes a one-time maid’s room. As is typical in Candela apartments, all the bathrooms are en suite, there is in-unit laundry and an almost unbelievable number of closets.

The entrance hall has a built-in seat and shelving. The ceilings are high, and there appear to be original casings and wood floors throughout.

The extra-large dining room is big enough for a sofa, and the smaller living room is set up like a library with built-in shelving. Both have beamed ceilings.

The galley-style kitchen is large and features pale blue tile backsplash, white stone counters and minimalist white and pale wood cabinets. The apartment’s service entrance is here.

The two main bedrooms are spacious and have beamed ceilings, capacious closets (one is a walk-in) and big, recently updated bathrooms. The former maid’s room fits a double bed and has built-in shelving as well as two closets, laundry in another closet, and an en suite half bath.

The full-service building has a live-in manager, doormen and attendants for the building’s two wood-paneled elevators, as well as daily mail and newspaper delivery. Storage in the building is available for a fee.

All of this luxury does not come cheap, of course. The monthly maintenance for the apartment is $2,700. Listed by Jessica Buchman, Bryan Rettaliata and Susanna Studwell of Corcoran, the unit is asking $1.699 million. Worth it?
