Brooklyn NY Homes For Sale Luxury

It used to be that cracking the $10,000,000 sale ceiling for a Brooklyn home was near miraculous. Last year, at least three homes accomplished this feat.

But a number of the borough’s most expensive listings have languished on the market for months — if not years. Lest you forget these luxe $10,000,000-plus gems, here’s a refresher of the priciest Brooklyn listings that still haven’t sold.

What do you think? Are these tony homes overpriced? Or are they just waiting for the right celebrity or financier to snap them up?

7. Bed Stuy’s John C. Kelley House
So the $6,000,000 asking price on this one places it solidly in the sub-$10,000,000 category. But this restored Neo-Renaissance mansion is one of Bed Stuy’s most prominent and notable buildings — and its highest-priced townhouse. About twice as expensive as Bed Stuy’s highest price residential sale, it’s also more than twice as large. It’s been looking for a buyer for over a year.

6. Bay Ridge Gingerbread House
This famous Arts & Crafts home designed by architect James Sarsfield Kennedy has been on and off the market since 2009. The 5,800-square-foot structure of uncut stone sits on a verdant one-acre lot just a block from the waterfront. With its thatched roofs and endless interior architectural details, the 1916 house is certainly one of a kind.

5. Civil War-era Heights Townhouse
Also known as Brooklyn’s most expensive rental, this four-story Federal-style townhouse hasn’t been on the market quite as long as others on our list. The cast-iron verandah is swoon-worthy, and the interiors have been updated. Interestingly, the home was sold for just $3,900,000 in 2012. It has since gotten a revamped kitchen.

4. Columbia Heights Mansion
Another Civil War-era Heights home, this mansion was on our list of the borough’s “priciest listings” for more than a year and a half before it was taken off the market at the end of 2015.  Was its $15,000,000 ask overpriced? The Brooklyn Heights home is in a great nabe, it’s huge, and it has oodles of original details and old-timey charm.

3. Dumbo’s Clocktower Apartment
This enormous triplex is the penthouse of Dumbo’s most iconic building. Unfortunately, not everyone seems to be on the market for a couple of 14-foot-tall built-in clocks; the home has languished on the market since 2009. In the interim, its price has dropped from $25,000,000. Perhaps three bedrooms isn’t enough to accommodate a prospective buyer’s entourage?

This 11,000-square-foot penthouse — so big its current owners don’t even know when someone else is home — can now be yours for a mere $32,000,000. The bonkers triplex was initially listed last May and came back on the market in April.

1. The Low Mansion: Brooklyn’s Most Expensive Listing
This is Brooklyn’s most expensive townhouse listing — ever. The semi-attached Italianate brownstone, built in 1857, was famously home to Seth Low II, who served as mayor of Brooklyn in the 1880s, and later, mayor of New York. Perched on a cliff, it overlooks the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and Brooklyn Bridge Park, with views of the East River, Statue of Liberty and Manhattan.
