Amidst the snow currently piling up around Brooklyn, we return to take a look at four of our featured listings from six months ago, focused on homes in Downtown Brooklyn, Clinton Hill, West Midwood and Greenpoint. How did they fare?

Our first one this week has curb appeal that is pretty hard to ignore, with an architecturally intriguing Flemish Revival-style shingled facade. The distinctive exterior appears to have been repaired and repainted since the West Midwood house was featured as an Open House Pick back in 2017. New listing photos show that some of the original interior details remain, including wood floors with inlaid borders, stained glass, a newel post, coffered ceiling and stone mantel. According to the listing, the renovation on the six-bedroom, three-bath house is still wrapping up but includes a new roof, electric and plumbing along with a renovated kitchen and baths with radiant heat. There’s a “massive” yard and a driveway that “can park six cars”; there’s no mention of a garage in the listing although building records show one associated with the property. This former House of the Day entered contract in October.

Next up, we have a Clinton Hill neo-Federal that bundles a practical early 20th century floor plan, original details, room for a home office and outdoor space all in a rather narrow package. It’s one of a row of four houses that are a bit more modern than some of the neighbors, having been built in 1922 on the site of a former 19th century wood frame manse. The first floor has a fairly open feel with the living room at the front and kitchen in the rear. Original details include parquet floors, wainscoting and a columned mantel around a wood-burning fireplace in the living room. A door with leaded glass sidelights and a transom leads to a porch off the dining room. The upper two floors each have a bedroom at front and back with a bathroom in between. Through the rear bedroom on the second floor is another small windowed room that could serve as a home office. The corresponding bedroom above has a rear deck. This former House of the Day sold in September 2020 for $2.388 million, which was $11,000 below the initial asking price.

In Downtown Brooklyn is a 20th floor unit in one of Brooklyn’s earliest condo conversions, in a landmarked Art Deco building, that feels like the true loft it is and has high ceilings, wood floors and beamed ceilings with exposed pipes. The two-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom unit has a home office, private terrace and modern amenities. This apartment is set into one of the angled setbacks, with windows ranging over three exposures. The main rooms are arranged along the angle, and the open plan living room and kitchen has an airy feel with windows on two sides. A built-in bookcase at one end of the living area provides some storage. The streamlined kitchen has slab-front white cabinets with frosted glass on the uppers, dark stone countertops and a large island. The two bedrooms both have en suite baths. One bedroom has the benefit of a walk-in closet while the other has direct access to the terrace. Across the hallway there’s a windowless bonus room set up as a home office with built-ins and two closets. This unit has $1,650 in common charges and $846 in taxes a month. This former Condo of the Day did not sell and is currently off the market.

Wrapping up this week is a late 19th century brick three-story house in Greenppoint that has an owner’s duplex with a two-bedroom apartment above. It’s had a gut reno with central air added and the open-plan first floor has a living room at the front, an open staircase and a kitchen with a wall of rough-hewn built-in shelves at the rear. The kitchen also has white cabinets, an apron-front sink and French doors leading out to a patio. This former Open House Pick sold in December 2020 for $2.85 million, which was $300,000 below the asking price.
