This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Park Slope, Crown Heights and Fort Greene. How did they fare?
First up, this Park Slope apartment is not huge, but it does have two bedrooms, fun finishes and a location directly across from Prospect Park. It’s on the first floor of a brick and limestone elevator building in the historic district dating from 1916. Configured with a bedroom on each end and the living room between, it could work for roommates or a family. This former Co-op of the Day sold in March for $948,000, which was $47,000 under the asking price.
In Crown Heights, this renovated bow-fronted single-family on Union Street designed by prolific Brooklyn architect Benjamin Driesler still has some original details, including a striking tiled fireplace with medieval-inspired ironwork. Wood floors with inlaid borders, a bay window, a coffered ceiling and built-ins are some of the other details in this three-bedroom, three-bathroom limestone. This former House of the Day sold in December for $2.125 million, which was $130,000 over the asking price.
This grand Italianate brownstone in the Fort Greene Historic District is a single-family with five floors, several marble mantels, wide plank floor boards and a landscaped backyard. The elaborate parlor floor features wedding cake plaster decorations, parquet and a modern kitchen nestled in a bay window. This former Open House Pick sold in February for $4.75 million, which was $550,000 over the asking price.
Sure to whet the appetite of any old-house lover, this Park Slope row house has a rare level of intact detail, including an antique stove and skeleton keys still in their locks. Fretwork, a pier mirror, marble sinks, mantels and built-ins are all on display inside the 1890s two-family. Perhaps not coincidentally, former owners were part of the midcentury brownstone movement and include prominent architectural historian and author Elliot Willensky. This former House of the Day is still available.
