Let’s not play games. Cobble Hill is so expensive because it’s a largely segregated neighborhood. “More conservative than Park Slope” means lily white.
We’re all having a great time spending other peoples’ money. All I can say is I have one left in college; the other two are out and we’re glad to be out of the school choice decision.

Even if you can afford private schools, a good zoned school makes all the difference. Reason is similar to supply and demand problem of renovated brownstones. There simply aren’t enough available seats at the top private schools to meet the demand for them. People are buying brownstones in PS 29 with the full intention of applying to private school, but the recognition that they’re not likely to get in. Good public school in district is a way to hedge the bet.
