The 2,550-square-foot brick house at 20 Grace Court Alley closed on Friday for $2,995,000, about 9 percent less than the original asking price but about 9 percent more than the average widget appraisal of $2,758,887. It doesn’t get much more charming than this.

When I lived in a brownstone, I took out my trash JUST LIKE THIS. I took it out right before trash was collected. Literally an hour before (my trash collection was very regular). I don’t want trash cans in front all the time. Why would I? I don’t live in the country; garbage is collected 3x a week here. I took a big bag and collected the kitchen, bath, trash cans, and then tossed the bag to the curb. Every other day. Done and done.

uh, that is actually disgusting. you keep trash in your home? i make sure trash (recycling, kitchen, and bathroom) are emptied and taken outside twice a day. but it’s taken out to a bunch of trash cans in a courtyard that’s not far away.. but yeah, you really shouldnt keep trash inside your apartment for that long. it attracts mad vermin and salmonellas

    *rob*

  2. OK… perhaps they recycle. If so, then they produce a SHIT LOAD of non-recyclable garbage!!!!

I lived in Seattle for a while… everyone was issued garbage bins (1 for garbage, 1 for mixed recycling, and 1 for compost/yard waste). Garbage evening and morning did not look and smell like a nasty garbage dump with bags piled up. There were tidy bins along the sidewalks (which were picked up with a claw mechanism on the truck… which was MUCH faster and didn’t hurt the backs of the garbage men)

That seems far more civilized that chucking plastic bags in the street.

We don’t have recycling at every pick up here so you can’t say they don’t recycle. I mean, you can say it but you could be wrong.

  4. iz — I’m assuming they would keep they’re garbage cans where they keep this huge pile of garbage bags… or maybe they just toss the bags out as they fill them.

I say they don’t recycle because they have two huge black bags and 4 additional white bags in the photo… not clear recycling bags. And it’s only 2,500 sq feet, so I’m sure no more than a couple (and *maybe* a baby) lives there.

No snooping. I don’t think I’m fancy enough to even walk down this mews, never mind live there. I think that must also be why these folks are moving, just a little too trashy for the ‘hood.

  5. Mr B, did you get the price info from the broker or from streeteasy? Streeteasy shows the asking price was reduced to $2.995M a month before going into contract, but the deed hasn’t been recorded yet so there’s no official word on the sales price.

  6. tybur6, just curious, where does one keep garbage cans when you live in an actual glorified garage/storage space/carriage house? (ie there’s NO Frontage, no stoop, nowhere to put anything utilitarian). Not like you can leave garbage cans sitting out front in a landmarked mews. secondly, how did you discover that they don’t recycle? Are you one of those neighbors who goes through people’s garbage out of curiosity/spite? Or just feeling cranky this morning and desperately wanting to use the word “tacky”?
