Development Watch: Atlantic's Storage Deluxe
Two months ago we noted that the paint job on Altantic Avenue’s “Pop Art” storage facility was under way. And for the past few mornings we’ve watched the “Storage Duluxe” branding take its place. I totally like the new one better, it is such a cool design! The Storage Deluxe blue one looks like some serious design thought went into it. And anyone who says that Brother’s was good, should get their head examined.
I like the new one better.
Both are blight! What’s wrong with you people in Brooklyn?!
well, they butchered the brick nicely with their metal cladding attachments. Would have been way better for the building if they would have just painted this one straight over the yellow.
I really do not get this. Put a bunch of metal over brick and paint it, what a waste of resources……………
Yes, the yellow was pretty cool, but they could have just opened the window openings and turned is into apartments, storage one block from the subway is not good land use (policy).
I’m sure it was the last thing on their mind, Zarathustra, I would bet fastening metal cladding on existing buildings is their usual modus operandi. It’s a cheap way to go, relatively speaking. Regardless, it does protect what’s underneath, an accidental by-product, to be sure.
I hope you being facetious Montrose. I doubt the new owner had historic preservation in mind when it covered up the facade.
agreed
I liked the yellow better, too, but I have to hand it to them, they only covered up the original building with the corrugated metal sheathing. The original building, which had some cool details, is still under there. I much prefer that, than mass destruction for the sake of corporate conformity.
Yellow way better….. miss it
