When we saw this listing, one word leapt to mind: Obfuscate. Dictionary.com provides three definitions:
1. to confuse, bewilder, or stupefy.
2. to make obscure or unclear
3. to darken.
We continue to be astounded at brokers who refuse to provide the most basic information in a listing. In this case, it’s an address. Clearly, this broker is hoping to trade on the Carroll Gardens name, even though (or perhaps because) this particular building lacks any of the charm that is typically associated with the neighborhood. Maybe it’s all beside the point: Based on the photos of the interior, this two-bedroom condo would look like a rip-off if it were in friggin’ Brooklyn Heights. Next please.

and to be even fairer to the broker (of which I am 100% not associated), the NY times listing says “carroll garden condo” but then right below it says carroll gardens, red hook, columbia st…so she’s telling you basically where it is right there..not hard to figure out it’s on other side of BQE by description…

yeah, B, I don’t understand the tirade either. Go to the realtors website, plenty of pics, floorplan, etc.
And BTW, Gardener, plenty of people will refer to this location as Carroll Gardens. (although some may add ‘west’ , or call Columbia St, South Brooklyn or RedHook)

mr b: i really think you are overreacting here…i don’t think it’s too much to ask someone to click on a link in a listing that has all of the relevant information…at corcoran you have to click on the link to see a floorplan or all the photos, the only difference here is you need to click to get the address and all that other stuff…at least it’s on the web, has pictures, has a virtual tour, has a floorplan and has an address…more than you can say for most brokers.
Put the address at the top of the ad and have the map show the actual address. Don’t make people have to play detective to find this kind of thing out. It’s the same B.S. on the listing on Fillmore.com.

i’m no broker defender, but that virtual tour link really does provide all of the info one would need (including a floorplan)…i think we should save the broker-bashing for a more deserved person
