An hour before Simon & Alex’s house renovation was unveiled on last night’s new episode of The Real Housewives on New York, we stopped by their Cobble Hill house for a guided tour. The reality show couple livea in the lower duplex (plus renovated cellar) with their two kids and have two rentals upstairs. Enjoy the pics! Update: As a commenter points out, how funny was that to see Marty in the background of their housewarming party on the show last night!
I noticed that other than posting these pictures and saying they were nice Brownstoner has no comment as to how he thought the reno turned out. Then again maybe he feels like I do at times and believes if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all.
Who is Marty?
Ha! I so agree advertmoron. Everybody seems to admire Jill, while I find her to be a spoiled, truculent, shallow, simpering, husband manipulating narcissist. Although still not as nauseating as Ramona, the “Countess” or Kelly, (who leaves me sputtering in jaw dropping disbelief on a weekly basis)
Can someone remind me why I willingly participate in this madness?

“I am saying that they are tacky, shallow, classless, shameless and pathetic” agreed to some extent but i think this one really should be aimed at the woman Jill on the show who seems to be from hell.
fsrq- at least you’ll be consistent 🙂
I was raised the same way too, but I would be enraged if they were hurting anyone but themselves. On the other hand, another reality show I never watched was Fear factor Family edition. What kind of parent would think of exposing their kids to the gross stuff done on that show? I would have been screaming child abuse.
“The hostility I guess is based on an upbringing that emphasized achievement, egalitarianism and modesty over bragging, classism and conspicuous displays of wealth (or fake wealth).”
Not to worry fsrq, I was raised that way. too. I’m constantly mortified by statements they make!
I question their behaviors, and their motives. Although more and more I question him, not her. She looks unhappy and muted to me lately. I think the last season and the reactions to same shocked some sense into her [more is needed.] She’s more and more on the side lines, and less of an actor than her husband.
jwald- you didn’t find that turned too pink? I tried a red swatch and turned on the light and ugh! My place is floorthrough so the living room is in the front and the kitchen just behind it. They are more or less open to each other.
The red I used is ok- but it doesn’t look nearly as rich as is does in different lighting. What I loved about it is that it had great coverage. Other reds took 3 or 4 coats. That suprised me. I would have thought red paints tend to cover better than other colors but most I tried didn’t.
I do love what reds do in small rooms. Makes them warm and cozy.
I like or used to like red but it’s become so expected. It’s true it’s too difficult to see the whole room’s effect in this photo.
Jill’s apartment was pretty bad. Some elements were cool separately on their own but all together it was confused.
bxgrl- Going back to your question about reds in windowless kitchens, I painted mine in a medium bright coral red and it works really well considering my apartment has only one window.
