Last week we spotted the first window being punched out chez Norah Jones. This week, Lost City passes by and finds there are now three holes in the wall. The excitement builds. Norah Jones Punching Holes in Amity Street [Lost City] Norah Jones’ Windows Coming In [Brownstoner]

bxgrl,
…no ever since snappy locked the doors on the late night OT, it’s been quiet there after 7PM,
didn’t DH have some bitters around here somewhere for the upset stomach?
noki,
listen to Music For The Masses,
awesome CD from Depeche Mode 1987. 😉
Noki
Things have changed big time for music and I agree there are SOOOO many great bands that will never reach mass appeal nor do they even want to, but for the Grammys to continue, they have to appeal to the younger audience
it’s about viewership for the Grammys nowadays – who’s going to tune in if all you are going to see are old folk rockers accepting awards?
“who do you like in the female vocalist genre?”
I like different artists for varying reasons…some for pure entertainment value others because they can actually sing. I’m a huge fan of Bjork, I enjoy Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige is fun as is Kylie Minogue. Amy Winehouse was a treasure and Christina Aguilera has one of the better voices in the business.
BUT, except Bjork and Gaga, I don’t listen to these artists much. I’m more of a Radiohead, Carly Simon, Frou Frou, The xx, Iron and Wine, Jack Johnson, Mat Kearney, Pink Martini, Snow Patrol kinda person.
Ingrid Michaelson (who lives in Park Slope, actually) is nice too. I like her.
Noki
personally, I didnt think album of the year should have went to Taylor
but in other catergories – their awards were just
Kings Of Leon – best Record of the year – for sure
Beyonce – best song of the year – 100%
Yes, but we already must acknowledge and reward the masses with the likes of Evan Bayh, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck! Must the idiocy also infiltrate art?
legion- what were you doing at 2 am? Posting on the OT doesn’t seem like the kind of fun you should be having 😉
Couldn’t do the drink. Having too many stomach problems lately. Seeing the specialist tomorrow.
11217 – we could sideline about the Grammys, but I agree Taylor doesn’t sing well, but her album is cute and it’s pop fluff and it sold a bazillion units and all the kids dig her also that Kanye bruhaha helped her big time – but the grammys got it right in other categories by recognizing that it’s not always about rewarding musicians with their obscure album that 10 people bought (Herbie Hancock’s Joni Mitchell letters, anyone?) but it’s also about accepting that we are in a different age and we have to reward the young folks too and the Grammys HAVE to be more cutting edge if they are to be considered important in modern day music….
