window security screens

The request stems from repointing work they are doing.   The old bars have caused some bricks to crack in the 70 some years since they were installed.   I am presently telling them that 70 years isn’t a short period of time, and if they replaced the anchors with stainless steel one, they would last hundred of years.   If I lose the “bar arguement”, I want a good, quality, tasteful security screen.

I live on the first floor of a coop and they want to get rid of the iron bars outside my windows.   I am interested in installing one of those stainless steel insect/security screens that in its place?   Does anyone know a local vendor? How much are they? Not I am not looking for the variety one sees on schools, or detention facilities.   The Picnic house at Prospect Park has some nice one   Thanks

Now with less typos! Note I am not looking for the ugly, oppressive variety one sees on schools, or detention facilities.   The Picnic house at Prospect Park has some nice ones on it, they allow people attending wedding receptions to see in, but effectively thwart people from breaking in.

“they want to get rid of the iron bars outside my windows”   did you ask them why?  if for insurance purposes kindly ask to see the insurance company’s written request.  if for aesthetics, you could kindly remind them that should there be a window open at night and someone decides to enter, “some” might consider the board liable for causing any losses, of in the case of a violent crime, possible personal liability.   i would make the request in writing.
