Wood vs metal studs/framing

Which are allowed in Brooklyn brick townhouse renovation and under what circumstances? Surprisingly getting conflicting info from various people invovled in our project. Thanks

Both wood and metal applications allowed depending on the existing circumstance or what an architect calls for on plans etc. For example we use metal especially in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens to prevent rotting of wood in the event of a leak. I thought partitions had to be metal (fireproof) now. I do know however that 1-2 family they will approve joists and other structural from wood if engineer calls them out. You can call that a definite maybe.
