Under-stoop gate won't close - which trade to fix?
Annoying minor house problem: the “gate” under my stoop (really, bigger than a gate – it’s a full size swinging metal door made of iron bars) won’t latch shut, as the side of the frame mounted into the masonry wall has come loose from repeated banging and overall age, so that the tongue in the lock can’t engage it’s socket. Gate itself is in great shape, but frame is loose / misaligned. I believe the “frame” needs to be reseated so will not move – what trade would I engage to get this fixed?

Had the same problem with our gate getting stuck shut. I agree with the others that you need an iron worker. Bay Ridge Iron adjusted it a couple of years ago and no trouble since.

You need Vinnie’s Italian Iron Artwork on Bergen St in Carroll Gardens or Lopopolo Iron Works on Mcdonald Ave.
