TPO roof for a residence?
Have any homeowners here put a TPO membrane on their roof? TPO is usually used for warehouse-sized roofs, but a roofer I talked to really believes in installing them on residences. I’m wondering about putting a TPO membrane on the roof on my Brooklyn townhouse. It would have a 20 year warranty which I like, but the cost is significantly more than a traditional membrane. It worth it? Necessary? Thanks.

Dudley TPO is the most common product used in commercial roofing because of the protection it provides, minimum maintanance and low cost when you evaluate the cost per year of warranty coverage. Asphalt products may be a cheaper option but you may need to replace or conduct maintanance making it cost more per year. TPO is a good residential solution if there is going to be minimal foot traffic on the roof – it is slippery. Ensure the applicator has at least a little experience – it’s not difficult to install but the more experience they have the easier it is to know when it is done right
