Too Cold to Pour Concrete

Is it too cold to pour a concrete driveway. If not any suggestions so it is done properly?

Right. You don’t want the water in the concrete to freeze before it has a chance to complete the initial setting/conversion process. Freezing would disrupt the chemical process, but once the concrete cures (about a week or so) it’s not really that big of a problem. The ground right now is still plenty warm and even the 32 degree occasional nights shouldn’t be problematic – just check the weather and ensure the week you are pouring it has nights in the 30’s-40’s or higher and you’ll be fine. In addition, the chemical process during concrete setting actually produces heat, which actually prevents it from freezing for a few days once the curing process really gets started. Covering the freshly set concrete with cardboard or something to hold the heat in the very top layer for a week or so should be sufficient. Now if you are waiting until January or February when its in the 20’s and the ground is frozen you would have a problem.

No problem as long as the temperature stays above freezing.
