must-use painter & floor guys

I am no shill–I’ve been searching for painters and floor guys for ages. and now that they are finished w our place, I’m paying it forward bc I am soooooo happy w the results in both cases. Jose Zambrano I found thru searching Brownstoner forums and he is AMAZING–stripped our super-basic boring red oak floors down from a grotesquely cheap stain and finish in just a couple days. excellent price–was not rock bottom but was close to it, and still half what 2 other guys quoted me. he also happens to be seriously sweet and friendly. 917-355-7977 And we used Anthony Tedeschi for the paintings. I think I found him on yelp but he’s a popular Brooklyn guy. all the same stuff applied–super reasonable price, very friendly. and both guys came to give in person estimates (none of that “oh it’ll be 5 gabillion, sight unseen”) then started the work as soon as I needed them to. I may have painted last in hindsight to avoid sawdust cleanup, but on the other hand maybe the floors would have gotten scuffed if id done in reverse. anyway, that’s my 2 cents, I really can’t speak more highly of either.

We usually do the floors first and the painting 2nd It helps if the painters are willing to tape paper over the whole floor and maybe even put drop-cloths under ladders etc. Never tried it the other way myself so can’t say which is easier

I used Jose twice. Always great.
