Help! Squirrel in the ceiling

I currently have a squirrel in my ceiling crawl space. Last week I called an exterminator who set a live trap on the roof. Since it’s been really cold the squirrel hasn’t gone outside. I’m getting nervous because I hear him gnawing at my support beam. And yesterday, I saw him on the landing of the skylight- inside the apartment! Poisoning the little guy is not an option but I need him gone ASAP. Any ideas to flush him quickly?

We used kingsway exterminators, they put a one way door on the hole the squirrel was getting in, and after a few days, they returned and covered the whole with wire mesh. I actually saw the squirrel staring at the covered whole…kinda sad, but I’m glad it’s gone. Gave me a 6 month guarantee.

We had a family of squirrels in our house and they’re super destructive. After we got ours out I found studs and joists that were gnawed down significantly. We got rid of ours by using a Squirrel Evictor which is essentially a strobe light (web search it). Basically you have to get into the space, hang the squirrel evictor, and then leave the hole where they got in open so the squirrels can exit. Then you leave the evictor strobe going for a full month to ensure the animals are gone and close up the hole. I don’t think trapping them works very well.

If you can get mothballs into the area that he’s in, he’ll make a speedy exit for a more inviting atmosphere.
