Coatin Roof To Make House Cooler

Our roof was recently redone and in great shape, I think it’s Firestone that Leakmaster’s uses…. Was Considering coating with aluminum sulfate as a means to reflect UV light and cool down some. Is there much advantage to this? Is there another material that’s even more effective and still as economical as the alum asphalt? I read that white glossy ceramic will reple heat better than the alum asphalt though i’m not sure if that can be so easily applied. Feedback, suggestions appreciated. Thanks

**Single ply membranes are pre-fabricated plastic or vinyl sheets containing solar reflective coatings or materials. Polyvinyl chloride** **(PVC),** **thermoplastic polyolefin** **(TPO), and** **ethylene propylene diene monomer. Try it! Hopefully this may work for you.

The Ames looks good and being white, looks like the a better option than aluminum asphalt.

There are a lot of products on the market today, however the only company I know of that makes this for DIY use is Ames.  You would use their super primer first and then two coats of Maximum Stretch. There are definite advantages to having a white roof over silver (I won’t even mention black).  If you chose  to go ahead with this project, make sure the coatings are specifically made for rubber roofs, and be careful of the coatings with silicone – I’ve heard some horror stories about trying to recoat those products down the road.

The Firestone is the white one right??? that’s what they installed on mine.  Don’t paint over it.  You’ll likely void warranty too.
