ballpark cost of new roof?

Hi All

With yesterday’s rain, it became clear that our roof is likely going to need some work.  In the worst case scenario, let’s say we have to take the old one off and replace it.  Can I get a ballpark estimate from the community of how much money we’re talking about?  It’s your basic brownstone sloped flat roof, roughly 25 X 40′ with a couple of sky lights.

It’s unusual that you would remove the existing roof – all the quotes I received were to cut away bubbles and lay a new roof on top of the existing.  I have a 25×45 roof and a a 25×15 extension.  To replace both roofs and 2 new gutters, I paid $7500, plus another $800 for 2 new skylights. I used GRD Contracting, who I’ve used for several renovation projects in my place.  Their number is (718) 768-5828\.  They subcontracted the work.  I was happy with the price, which was lower than the other quotes I received, and that they would do the whole job at once and quickly (this was just before Irene).

Does the price include level 5 finish on the sheetrock, priming and painting? We never tried to sheetrock a roof before, maybe we need to think outside the box. Can this be considered a green roof because of the inevitable mold? All kidding aside I think he meant plywood ( I hope).

if you just want to put roof without taking older layer, it should cost you around $3000-3500 or you want to take out everything and put new sheet rock and two layers of roof then it should cost around 12000-15000.00\. Call this guy ctg construction at 718-669-8305\. they will give you good price.
