Advice on filling in gaps around windows casings

Hello, Post renovation we see we have some gaps between the wood casing of some of the windows and the Sheetrock wall (the gaps are located on the bottom sill). We would like to winterize these gaps but I think the gap is too wide for caulking (some are 1/2 inch wide). Anyone have any experience on how to fill these gaps? Thanks!

I’ve used the Great Stuff spray foam from Dow. For small gaps, use the Windows & Doors version (low expansion). Wear disposable gloves or the adhesive will stick to your hands for days. Otherwise, there is a foam backer rod you can press into the gaps before you caulk.
